The East Haddon Village Society run a programme of monthly speakers on a wide variety of themes, from national topics like the work of the RNLI and Deaf awareness to more local subjects like the Battle of Naseby, the History of East Haddon Hall, local authors and garden designers. Local subjects and speakers are particularly popular.
The Society also run the village Christmas Party to which the whole village is invited. An excellent event for young and old with games for the children and festive food and mulled wine for the adults.
The Society meet in the Village Hall on the third Thursday of each month (except for August and December) to chat and listen to a speaker. Everyone is welcome. The doors open at 7.30pm and the talk starts at 8pm lasting about an hour. Tea, coffee and wine is usually available.
The monthly speakers are advertised through posters put up throughout the village, the Parish Newsletter, the Village WhatsApp group and other social media.
There are usually a couple of raffles each year with the funds raised used to support national and local charities that benefit the local community.
The Society is run by a committee of 6 or 7 local people however they are always very happy to include others from the village who would like to get involved.
Annual membership is £20 and then all meetings that year are free to attend. Membership runs from March to April. Non-members pay £4 for each visit and are very welcome. For further information contact easthaddonvs@gmail.com
