Public Spaces Protection Order

A new Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) will come into force on the 1st December 2018. It requires all dog

owners to obey the following rules:

- Pick up after your dog.
- Carry the means to pick up after your dog.
- Prevent your dog from entering a fenced-off play area.
- Put your dog on a lead when requested by an authorised officer.
- The number of dogs walked by a single person is limited to six.
- Smoking will be prohibited within children's play areas.

These regulations have been the result of public consultation. Daventry District Council (DDC) will, before 1st December, agree boundaries and signage in each parish.

The penalty for breaking these new regulations will be an on-the-spot fine of £100, or in serious cases, prosecution.

This subject can also be read in the DDC magazine - Daventry Calling.
